Ne joue pas was a French cover of Let Her Dance , the first hit by Bobby Fuller, a Texas singer who died under unclear circumstances back in 1966.
The French version was written by the drum player from Jezebel Rock, a band from Toulouse who recorded it on the Romances 85 compilation, produced by Jean-William Thoury. This very compilation featured also a song by Les Sucettes, Je sais aimer, with the line "Je ne suis pas une calamité" [I am not a calamity].
Another guy from Toulouse, Dougherty, with already one record of his own released, offered to Caroline, who played the bass and sang in Les Calamités, to make a duet version of this cover. The demo, recorded at home on a 2-track Akai, never turned into a disc. Gill Dougherty is now sharing it withs us, 20 years later!
