LIPSTICK ON YOUR COLLAR
Interpreted on stage but never recorded by Les Calamités

Lipstick On Your Collar was first interpreted by Connie Francis in 1959 and then covered by numerous artists (among them The Ventures  and their instrumental version) including the band The Saints featuring Chris Bailey, as well as Cyndi Lauper during the Blue Angel Tour.
That song also gave its title to the irresistibly British and hilarious musical TV series by Dennis Potter, in 1993.
It was not surprising that Les Calamités add this tune to their song stock, putting in it a little bit of fresh and worriless pop. The song's story fits quite well into the theme of relationships between boys and girls, often mentioned in their songs (and in many other songs by the way). And the swinging melody gives an opportunity to three more minutes of music on stage and dancing in the audience.
Just note that this is the only cover by Les Calamités dating back to the 1950's.
And their only text referring so explicitly to cheating.

Lipstick On Your Collar

Lyrics: Edna Lewis - Music: George Goehring

When you left me all alone
At the record hop
Told me you were going out
For a soda pop
You were gone for quite awhile
Half an hour or more
You came back
And man oh man
This is what I saw

Lipstick on your collar
Told a tale on you Boy
Lipstick on your collar
Said you were untrue
Bet your bottom dollar
You and I are through
Cause lipstick on your collar
Told a tale on you

You said it belonged to me
Made me stop and think
Then I noticed yours was red
Mine was baby pink
Who walked in but Mary Jane
Lipstick all a mess
Were you smoochin' my best friend
Guess the answer's yes

Lipstick on your collar
Told a tale on you Boy
Lipstick on your collar
Said you were untrue
Bet your bottom dollar
You and I are through
Cause lipstick on your collar
Told a tale on you

You said it belonged to me
Made me stop and think
Then I noticed yours was red
Mine was baby pink
Who walked in but Mary Jane
Lipstick all a mess
Were you smoochin' my best friend
Guess the answer's yes

Lipstick on your collar
Told a tale on you Boy
Lipstick on your collar
Said you were untrue
Bet your bottom dollar
You and I are through
Cause lipstick on your collar
Told a tale on you
