DANCING SHOES
Interpreted on stage but never recorded by Les Calamités

Cliff Richard Dancing shoes was recorded in May 1962 by Cliff Richard and the Shadows . Though released, in 1963, as the flip side of Summer Holiday, it became a hit before its A-side and ranked number 1 in the UK.
This song was written by the two guitarists of the Shadows, Bruce Welch and Brian Marvin (who made his name sound more American and became Hank B. Marvin). It belongs to the fist era of the history of Rock'N'roll, when lyrics had to sound innocent enough to adult ears, though irresistibly inviting enough for the young to get into action – on the dance floor.
In the Calamités' song stock, it is obviously to be classified in the same group as Teach Me How To Shimmy and You Can't Sit Down.

Dancing Shoes

Lyrics/Music: Bruce Welch, Hank B. Marvin

You must have heard of a little bo-beep
She was the gal with all the sheep
Well, one day, it's too sad to say
The sheep all ran away
She was lonely, she was blue
She was sad and crying too
So I told her what to do
I said: Put on your dancing shoes

Put on your dancing shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
And dance away your blues

A friend of mine had an accident
Laughed so hard, of a wall he went
Humpty Dumpty was his name
I guess you've heard the same
He was lyin' on the ground
Bits and pieces all around
So I told him what to do
I said: Put on your dancing shoes

Put on your dancing shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
And dance away your blues

I'm sure you know about Jack and Jill
They're the ones that went up a hill
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after
What a noise their crying made
It was a ringing through the glade
And so I told them what to do
And I changed their tears to laughter

Put on your dancing shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
And dance away your blues

Put on your dancing shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
Put on your dancing shoes
